Kaler's at Shea Stadium
We watched batting practice and would you believe it, every Kaler got a baseball! The pitching coach tossed it right to'em each time. You just have to sit there and be cute, I guess!!
We tried to get rally fries but oh well. We're giving up on that goal!!
What a game!! First of all, we had rockin' seats thanks to Cheryl and ebay... the temperature was perfect... we were surrounded by friendly New Yorkers... its the last year at Shea before they tear it down... awesome view... and on top of all that, we got to see Felix pitch, and since its an interleague game, we got to see the rare occasion that Felix actually got to bat. So here's my baseball boys, telling all the Mets fans that usually the pitcher just bunts the ball. But here we are, bases loaded and two outs..... Felix is up to bat....
You know what Felix did? You know. He turned to us, winked, and hit a Grand Slam!! (Ok, I lie about the wink part) Apparently its the first time in 27 years that a pitcher in the American League has done that!! Go Felix!!! (We did have a Felix sign and Greg thinks he winked at us coming around the bases...)
Here's our Felix sign (the kids did it and yes, we know fielding is spelt wrong:) the kids decided to leave it but you shoulda heard the flack we got from the crowd!! They were just jealous...
Unfortuneately, Felix got hurt in the fifth inning and came out of the game. He did get to bat one more time, I got a picture of his perfect batting average.
It was an amazing night! Mariners won 5-2. The Mets fans were awesome. We're still on a baseball high and now truckin' on up through Connecticut. Next stop, Massachusets. HUGS
PS. We just heard from our friends in Seattle that we got on TV in the 4th inning! Yeay! Too bad we didn't get any Rally Fries!
