Fireworks

Did anybody hear about the mall being evacuated on for a tornado warning?
Right after we left the capital, we came back to see the news saying DC and area was on a tornado and thunderstorm alert. We had just missed the call for shelter. Sure enough, it started dumping (see the rain in DC pics to find out how we handled it) but we never did see a tornado. It cleared and the fireworks went on as planned, but everyone around here has a lingering taste of conspiracy theory and somebody somewhere just wanting to run a drill.
We enjoyed the fireworks from the top level parking lot at school, where we had a panoramic view of the whole city going up in sparks and joined in with a bunch of visiting highschool students singing "proud to be an American" along with the radio. It felt like..... college!!
Today is now friday and I'm studying hard before we head off to our next weekend adventure. I am inspired by the academics here and how perfect a fit the program is with my passion... my quote for the day is from Ghandi: "We need to be the change we want to see happen. We are the leaders we have been waiting for."
Amen, and God bless America!!
